SALT LAKE CITY - James Faust, Second Counselor to LDS church President Gordon B. Hinckley, has died.
Faust died early this morning at his home of age-related causes. He was 87.
Faust has been a General Authority since 1995 and has held church leadership positions since 1972.
A graduate of the University of Utah School of Law, Faust was president of the Utah Bar Association from 1962 to 1963. Faust was a representative in the Utah Legislature, where he served as chairman of the House liquor investigation committee. Faust also served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He had just turned 87 on July 31.
Faust is survived by his wife, Ruth, five children, 23 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
