SF Mid-Singles Adventure by the Bay

I don't think I could get tired of this bridge, the city on the otherside of it, or the parks and coastline all around it.
The three in Fort Mason's park. Well, I am not really sure what the park is called, but it was near Fort Mason where we had church, and could barely feel our toes or hear the speakers. It was cold, and lets just say the accustics left much to be desired. One talk really moved me, however. One woman talked about the important questions to ask of God. Knowing that we will be given all we ask if we don't ask contrary to the will of God, makes one reflect what we should be asking. I guess "why" or "why me" is not included in those questions.

Ricki and the girls on the Golden Gate. Luce was so excited to see the GG Bridge; she said it would be like us seeing the Tour du Eiffel for the first time. Wow, I remember that. I know Luce will remember the GG Bridge for a long time. Too bad we didn't get more than Luce's forehead in the pics. This would have been a great time to risk my camera and ask a nice looking stranger to take the pic.

Ever wonder what holds up the GG Bridge? Well, a wrong turn lead us right under to see all the support. Pretty cool.

Crissy Field. Wow. I would love to take my dogs there to play and have fun in front of the SF Bay and GG Bridge. I love this field and I wish I had more time to play in this field.

The coolest thing about this trip is that it all came together at the last moment. Dave martin connected me with Celeste whose brother in SF was so generous to let us stay at their place for the weekend, and Luce was able to come on a later flight as well. An hour before getting to LAX, Chad (Celeste's brother) found us a rental car for $15 a day!!! WOW! SF here we come! I love this city and I couldn't wait!

I get to LAX with an hour and a half waiting in the terminal. I was so ready to lay down and just sleep on the ground, but decided to keep my propriety and stay in the chair. I was dreaming of the extra few hours I had by getting an earlier flight into SF and all the places I want to see. I get into SFO, and my luggage didn't make it. What? My luggage didn't make it! You have got to be kidding! Then comes the problem of I need my luggage and no where to deliver it because Chad and Amber where planning to leave for Ventura county. Bummed out, I end up waiting a couple hours to to get my luggage on the next flight. I then head to the airbus to get the rental car.

Still fuming, and trying to calm down from my late luggage, all of a sudden I hear this Aussie talking and I look over, and almost yell, "I know you!" He looks at me like I am some crazy American chick. I then say that I'm thefish, and he says, "Yes, yes you are." And the rest is history! I finally got to meet Ricki from linkup! It truely was meant to be to meet on the airbus, and the way to meet was my luggage not making it on the flight.

The events of the conference don't matter to me. What matters are the wonderful people I got to spend the weekend with. From Chad and Amber being such amazinfg hosts and sharing Amber's birthday celebration and enjoying the singles conference stories, to Ricki and his great big personality and laughs, and of course Luce and Celeste who endured the ups and downs of a mid-singles weekend and just had fun! It was great.

I have the Best Mommy Ever!

You may think your mom is the best, but I am sorry to brake it to you, but my mom is the best. My mom planned and pulled off the best birthday suprise. Sure it may be a couple days before my official 31st birthday, but that doesn't matter.

Today was a Sunday that basically when just as I thought when I woke up this morning. I had to rush to get on the road as quick as possible so I didn't miss the Sacrement. Being Veteran's Day tomorrow, two of the speakers were WWII Vets. I was very impressed by the 2nd speakers talk on faith, prayer, and the Lord's hand in the many miracles that allwed the bombing missions to be successful and that he returned home safe. I got more names typed up in my PAF files from the Guftafson side of my family. My visiting teacher brought me two cup cakes from Sprinkles. Relief Society reminded me that this Sat is our Christmas breakfast and craft at 9 am. The lesson was on strengthening families. I saw a good friend from Santa Monica who is engaged to be married in Salt Lake this coming March. And there was a mid-singles linger-longer after. It was veggies and dip and french bread pizzas, that are as good as it gets at church functions, and of course the bloody punch from the Halloween dance, which after gallons and gallons, I am in no hurry to see that punch ever again! Then Sister Wihongi takes my bag and purse while talking with a good looking guy, and I think I guess I will just get my bags later. Then Brother Wihongi grabs my arm and starts to announce it is my birthday while this amazingly huge coloful cake with curly candles and my name on it comes rolling out. I am told to quick blow out the candles before the wind gets my wish. I then look up and its my mommy who rolled out the cake! She got me! She totally suprised me! It was awesome. I am still tickeld pink at it! I was wondering what was going on when I saw this amazing cake; I mean, no one else ever had a birthday cake at linger-longer and I don't think I did that great of a job on the punch for the Halloween dance to deserve a special birthday cake. The cake was from King's Hawaiian, chiffon, whip cream frosting, passion fruit, lime and mango purree on top. Sooooo, good! The mango is the best!

It was so much fun!! It was the perfect place to share the birthday suprise and eat awesome cake. Thank you mom!

P.S.
I love the red velvet Sprinkles cup cake...but i think I still make a better cupcake.

Its all about the earplugs.

I can't remember the last time I updated my blog. It really cuts into my blog time when the site is blocked from my school network1 I see that the last blog was the end of August. I have a lot of report on like teaching at a new school, the SF Singles Conference, SF Nike Half Marathon, Halloween. Now we are already coming up on my birthday! This seriously has been the busiest year I have had in a long time.

I started teaching at Irvine High and I LOVE the staff and administration! They are amazing people. They are very supportive and very personable. It feels great to be at a school like this. I feel like I am able to be the teacher I know I was, and kind of lost in all of the politics at the other school.

Now about this whole commute business. I get up at flippin 4:30 am to get on the road about 5 to miss all the traffic and go work out. Planning and packing and getting to bed on time are key. If I don't do these things, I am hurting the next day. It started off great, then I kind of hit the wall, and now I am ready to get back into my commuting groove and make the most of it! I like taking advantage of getting up early and working out in the mornings. I have had to get used to going to bed early, and proves to be a challenge sometimes, but its all about the earplugs!! Without those puppies i wasn't able to sleep very well. Now I can get up in the morning. The sad part is that i actually wake up at 5am Sat morning. This is how its gonna be until I figure out the housing situation. You do what you gotta do...until you don't.

The Master's Hand

I just had to write today to testify that the Lord knows each and everyone of us personally and His hand is in our lives. We may not "get" what is happening, but things are happening and we just need to trust in Him and do our part. He knows what we are in need of. Hind sight is 20/20 and just reminds us we need to continue trusting Him, having faith and patience for things to happen at the right time.

Video Picks of the time since I last posted videos

Vincent who? Who cares. Why is there such a lack of Seal videos on YouTube? This is good music.

Just listen. The guy has talent. He even continues to go to the local places to jam. Nice to see he remembers where he started.

You need to watch more Punjabi videos. You know you are a closet Indian M.C. Hammer.

I have dreams...granted they usually involve a good looking man taking my breathe away...but that is another song.

D reminded us all that Elvis left the building Aug 16, 1977. Thankfully he left his music.

This is a classic done the right way. Okay, so the hip swivel is a bit hilarious.

A Free Hair Cut

I am sure we have all been victim of a free haircut, probably at the hands of our mother's in the early years. I now am the one dishing out the free haircut, to my dog Suzy that is. There is no way I am paying the same to get her groomed as it would cost me to get a good haircut!

This is a rough before pic. Actually, I finally decided to give her the cut because the hair was getting so long you could barely see her eyes. She was getting so poofy.

Post free haircut, and a lot of struggling. She may be small, but she is fiesty and puts up a good fight. I promise it is the same dog! She looks so different, poor girl. She lost a pound of hair too. I miss her poofy face, but at least I won't have to cut her for another 2 to 3 months. She feels like a chenille throw. It took about 3 days worth of touch ups for it to look this even. For a day she looked like she got in a fight with a pair of scissors, which I guess it literally was.
Alright, let me gloat a little bit here...I may have to delete this one in the future. How many of y'all have dated someone who you thought was a really great person, but still had a LOT of things to work out, and were always emotionally pushing the relationship? Then broken up, and not to soon after they were dating another person, seriously might I add, got engaged and you felt a pang of jealousy, not wanting to be back with that person, but more the fact that they were the one with the issues and they are not engaged and you would love to be on the path to wedded bliss. Fast forward a few months when you have all but forgotten about that pang of jealousy, you find out in a round about way that they are now single again and the person they were engaged to complained about the same issues you saw. I hate to say it, but I was a bit bloated with gloat after that, 'cause I didn't even get to the engaged part and I saw the issues, and it wasn't me, and he's not gettin' hitched!

I know it's sad, but I would bet everyone has been there. I really shouldn't revel in it, but I am allowing myself this time.
